Apparently, through tomorrow (MLK’s birthday), National Parks will be free to the public! I would have shared this news earlier, but I only just heard about it. There are a few National within a few hours drive of L.A. (Cabrillo National Monument, Channel Islands, Death Valley, Joshua Tree, Sequoia and Yosemite are all 5 hours or less distant by road), so maybe someone can still put this info to use. Or you can use it for free events later this year (see list below).

To find a National Park near you, visit: http://www.nps.gov/findapark/index.htm

Here’s the full list of free-admission days for 2012:

  • January 14-16
    Martin Luther King Jr. weekend
  • April 21-29
    National Park Week
  • June 9
    Get Outdoors Day
  • September 29
    National Public Lands Day
  • November 10-12
    Veterans Day weekend
