There’s this nifty little site with a calendar of free Los Angeles events that I like to consult. It has a lot of possible outings (for both adults and kids listed), although mostly you just get the date and the link, with few details. Anyway, on my most recent visit to the site (http://www.freethingstodoinlosangeles.com/), I found a great page with free local concerts listed.
Since, as mentioned, the details are sparse, I thought I’d select a few to highlight and give more details:
The Thorton School of Music at USC is giving a free jazz concert on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 7:30pm. You will find the event at the USC University Park Campus, Alfred Newman Recital Hall. The music will include numbers composed by grammy-winning USC faculty. For more details, check:
Sundays at 6 p.m., you’ll find SUNDAYS LIVE at LACMA in the Bing Theater. On Nov. 6, you can listen to the Young Musicians Foundation Debut Orchestra, Jorge Mester, conductor, performing Adams: Shaker Loops and Bizet: Symphony in C.
And on Nov. 13, you can listen to Movses Pogossian (violin), Michele Zukovsky (clarinet), and Antoinette Perry (piano) performing Beethoven: Violin Sonata in C minor, Opus 30, No. 2; Messiaen: Première communion de la Vierge from “Vingt regards sur l’enfantJésus”; and Bartók: Contrasts.
