Summer’s only just over, but if you’re looking for a quick getaway with the kids during October, try hitting San Diego for their “Kidvasion.” The zoo, several museums, and even restaurants will be offering free admission for kids throughout the month. Here’s a link for more details.

Hi Becca, in terms of the San Diego deals for kids, any attractions that you would recommend. We have never been there and we are going with kids ranging from 2 yrs to 15 yrs old.

    Thank you

I’ve never been there with the kids, but looking around online, I found a few tips for things to do in the area that are either free or WAAAY cheaper than the zoo, etc.:

-San Diego’s Old Town allows visitors to wander free through Old Town’s historic buildings, including the blacksmith shop, Seeley Stables, Stewart House, Estudillo House and the oldest schoolhouse in San Diego.

-Despite the name, the Children’s Pool, near downtown La Jolla, isn’t a swimming area for kids. That was it’s original purpose, but now the area is a protected area frequented by seals and sea lions who beach themselves on the sand with their young.

-Figure out when low tide is and visit the tidepools at Point Loma or Cabrillo National Park.

-Balboa Park has multiple museums (most for an entrance fee), but often holds free concerts at 2pm on Sundays.

-The area’s New Children’s Museum is located in San Diego’s marina. Kids are make their own projects in the art studios and climbing around on art installations. Admission is free the second Sunday of every month from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with special performances and activities.

Hope this helps! Please post follow up after your trip. Enjoy it!
